The Fray Concert

Does everyone know who "The Fray" is? If you don't know, you can go check out their official website by clicking here. They did the concert at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby which was a perfect evening for an outdoor concert. We were joined by a couple friends of mine from work. As soon as the band performed their hit songs "How To Save a Life" and "Over My Head" which were featured in popular shows like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scrubs", the crowd got really excited and some of the people from the audience were asked to go up on stage to help the band to play tambourine for them. It was cool! Despite the fact that we had to wait a long time to see them play, it was still an amazing concert. My next concert will be Josh Groban on Aug 17th and I am so excited for this one because Josh Groban is one of my favourites!

Mt Seymour 5 Peaks Trail Running Series

Today's weather started off with clouds and fog up on Mt. Seymour for the run. Ray and I went and did the third trail run series for the 5 Peaks at Mt. Seymour. As soon as we got there, we realized that we needed some bug repellent spray because there were bugs everywhere buzzing around our heads. It was kind of disgusting. It felt better as the morning went by with fewer bugs but then it was drizzling a little bit. By then, we were all done with the race and finishing up with the awards ceremony. The course was very technical and I think it was a lot better than Golden Ears (the first 5 peaks trail series in April). It was really muddy though but no water involved which was good because I definitely wouldn't like running in soaked shoes again. The muddy shoes were fine because they weren't wet. I guess wearing Salomon Gortex shoes helped. I love Salomon shoes. They are the best! The trail was single track where it was hard to pass people. Not that I was passing people but I was really taking it easy because it was slippery on logs and tree branches everywhere. I would rather be safe than sorry. Well, let's get back to the race. Here are the results: I came in 115/197 overall, 53/120 for females and 20/44 in my age group. As for Ray, he was tied with another person for 5th place overall, 6/77 for males and 3/32 in his age group. And yes, he was up on the podium for coming 3rd in his age group. So proud of him! The next 5 Peaks series is in Whistler on Aug 25th. I will have to gear up for that race now. I will keep you posted.

Camping at Gold Creek in Golden Ears Park

It has been an awesome and busy weekend. My sister and I went down south for some shopping at Seattle Premium Outlet and we sure didn't waste time as soon as we got there. We bought quite a bit of stuff. My sister is planning to go down again this week since she didn't shop enough or let's just say, she didn't spend enough :) I also went camping this weekend with my sister and her family. My parents also came and joined us since this was their first time camping. They loved it! It goes the same for me because I sure needed to get away from the city and experience some simplicity in life. I didn't really want to leave and am planning to go camping again SOON!!! This time, Ray is coming because he was in St. Louis working and I felt that I was missing something from this whole camping trip. That missing thing was no Ray around to have fun with. Oh well...we are definitely going camping in a few weeks. Anyway, I have uploaded some pictures on Picasa web album. Please check it out. I hope that you will enjoy looking at the photos. Have fun!

Canada Day 7.5K Run in Pitt Meadows

Happy 140th Birthday Canada!!! Finally, it feels more like summer. It was sure a beautiful day. Ray and I went to Pitt Meadows for the celebration of Canada Day and also to run a 7.5K race at 8:30am this morning. You must be wondering why we chose Pitt Meadows. Ok...here is the reason. First, the distance was only 7K and second, the course was pretty flat. The HBC Canada Day run at Canada Place in downtown was a 10K and the course was hilly. I had run downtown a few times and I wanted to try something different and to take it easy for this long weekend. I don't want to get too sore because I still need to celebrate Canada Day :) Alright, let me tell you how we did in this race. I finished with a time of 40:12mins and came in 67th/251 overall, 19th/148 for females and 6th/45 in my age group. Ray, on the other hand, did well as usual. His time was 29:55mins with a position of 8th/251 overall, 8th/103 for males and 3rd/21 in his age group. He was up on the podium receiving a medal for 3rd place in his age category. Way to go!!
