Whistler 5 Peaks Trail Running Series

Whistler was incredibly outrageous. By this, I mean the course of our weekend race. It was definitely like winter before the race and summer after the race. Ray and I competed in the #4 series of the 5 Peaks trail run. We took the Gondola up to Roundhouse Chalet and started the race from there. I had fun but a lot of the racers didn't quite enjoy the run too much. I thought it was pretty good because of many reasons. Here are the reasons why; the course was only 5.65km, no raging water, no constant uphill for more than a kilometre, amazing view and lastly, I wasn't that sore after the race. My calves hurt a little though. It was an interesting race to run because we were basically running on snow! People were sliding everywhere but I really have to say my Salomon shoes are awesome. I have no sliding problems because they have good grip. Ok...I'm starting to sound like a sales pitch but it is true though. My friend, Shirmy and her family came up and joined us for the remainder of the race event including the awards ceremony. Results are now posted at the Raceheadquarters site. Ray came in with an amazing time of 28:26mins at a position of 3rd out of 187 overall, 2nd out of 31 in his age group and 3rd out of 84 for males. Good job, Ray even though a 14 year old beat you (he sustained an injury on his ankle from pushing himself too hard). I think being safe is better than coming first. Anyway, as for me, I definitely didn't care what position I came in as long as I didn't get hurt. I came in with a time of 43:34mins at 107th overall out of 187, 13th out of 31 in my age group and 44th out of 103 for females. We both had an improved time of 5:10mins from last year's race! Now with this, I am proud of myself because I know I am more conditioned than last year. I guess doing the Grind pays off. ^o^
