Chinese New Year Celebrations
Another Chinese New Year to celebrate and this year is the Year of the Pig. I saw a lion dance performance yesterday at City Square Mall where I work. It was pretty cool. It sure feels like there is Chinese New Year atmosphere here even though we live in a western city like Vancouver. Tonight, there were 20 of us that got together at a Chinese Restaurant and had a delicious 8-course feast to ring in the Chinese New Year. I will try to get to some more festivals and celebrations around town tomorrow after doing my race "Climb the Wall" at Sheraton Wall Centre. Lastly, I wish everyone the best of health, happiness and prosperity in this New Year.
Update (Feb 18/2007): What a nice day for the Chinese New Year parade today on Sunday in Chinatown. Ray and I went there to watch the parade right after our "Climb the Wall" at Sheraton Wall Centre. There were tonnes of people in Chinatown to celebrate the New Year with performers from the parade doing firecrackers, wearing pig masks, dancing, performing lion and dragon dances and giving out "Ang Pow". Well, of course, no money but chocolate coin in there :) Hope you all are also having a wonderful Chinese New Year too. Check back here soon.
